Update on Bone Substitutes: What Every Dentist Needs to Know

Not Supported.

Course overview

In Dr. James Fine’s lecture on bone grafting, he dissected thorny issues of autogenous vs allografts vs xenografts. Jim explained the differences between cortical and cancellous bone grafts, and if the two should be combined. Now, in the second lecture on bond grafting, Update on B, one Substitutes Dr. Fine, who heads Columbia’s PG perio program, tackles what happens when bone substitutes are introduced into the scheme of osseous regeneration and wound healing.

This lecture addresses both known and unknowns. What is tissue engineering? Should patients who smoke receive treatment?  Can bisphosphonates aid in wound healing? Is your patient Vitamin D deficient and why does this matter? Why should we know more about Forteo? Jim answers these questions and raises many more, all that affect patient outcome… and what every dentist needs to know.
