The goal of this presentation is to increase the dental professional’s awareness of the vast number of drug interactions that can occur between medications the patients are taking and those prescribed by the dentist. Multiple drug regimens carry the risk of adverse interactions that include drug-drug, drug-herbal supplement, drug-food and drug-disease. To avoid potential drug interactions, the dentist must reference all medications the patient is currently taking and those prescribed by the dentist. Included in this presentation are possible therapeutic strategies to prevent and manage these interactions. After completing this lecture you will be required to successfully complete a test in order to receive education credit for this video streamed course.
