This section presents general concepts in primary tooth trauma including epidemiology and when immediate treatment vs. treatment deferral is feasible. A systematic approach to Extraoral and intraoral evaluation is presented. Radiographic examination is addressed. Emergency treatment as well as follow up is important parts of this lecture. Soft tissue, hard tissue and support tissue lesions will be discussed according to current guidelines from AAPD and IADT. Complications and sequelae of trauma to the primary are discussed based on extensive literature review and clinical experience. There will be a test at the end of this lecture to verify successful completion of the course.
