Alveolar Ridge Preservation: Rationale, Materials, and Treatment Outcomes

Course overview

After this presentation attendees should understand rationale behind alveolar ridge preservation, different techniques and materials that are available to clinicians, and potential treatment outcomes that may result from the use of specific materials and techniques. Techniques and materials will be demonstrated using multiple case presentations.

  • Review of materials available for alveolar ridge preservation
  • Review of clinical research comparing various materials and their impact on implant dentistry

    • Tyler D. Borg, DDS
      • TYLER D. BORG, DDS, obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree and served as Student Body President from the University of Colorado. Dr. Borg, currently a third year Graduate Periodontics Resident at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, conducts clinical research in Alveolar Ridge Preservation. He is originally from Denver, Colorado where he attended Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado and then Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was a member of the Men’s Swimming Team and obtained his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Science with Honors. He currently lives in San Antonio, Texas with his wife, Dr. Jenna Borg who practices general dentistry.

    Guidelines: All participants are expected to respect this policy at all times. If recording is necessary as an accommodation, or for education or administrative purposes, prior approval must be obtained in writing. Unauthorized recording or transcription may result in removal from the session and/or further administrative action. Exceptions may only be granted by the department director in advance. Taking detailed notes is encouraged, and participants are welcome to take pictures of the presentation slides for personal use.

    Purpose: This policy ensures a safe and respectful environment, protects sensitive and proprietary information, and upholds the confidentiality of all participants.
