Over 30 million Americans have diabetes. Dental office personnel must become comfortable treating patients with diabetes. This course has a clinical focus and emphasizes current medical therapies for diabetes, bilateral relationships between oral health and diabetes, dental treatment pathways for these patients, and prevention and management of diabetic emergencies in the dental office.
Following this course, the attendee will:
• Comprehend the bilateral relationships between diabetes and periodontal diseases.
• Understand current diagnosis and medical management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes
• Recognize the potential impact of diabetes on dental care
• Know different strategies for managing dental patients with diabetes
