The world of dentistry is changing! Dentist and staff are heading back to the clinics and need to be prepared for the extra precautions required.
The risk of an occupationally acquired infection and the potential for cross-contamination has always been present in dental practice. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has unmasked weaknesses of our prior standard-based precaution protocols to protect against SARS-CoV-2 infection. The intent of this course is to discuss and contrast newly released guidance set forth by the CDC, OSHA, and ADA to minimize the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in the clinical process (for the protection of patients and oral health care personnel alike).
This course will provide an update on the rapidly evolving COVID-19 pandemic landscape, strategies to mitigate it’s progress in the community, and provide a detailed focus on the newly introduced recommendations and requirements for the practice of dentistry moving forward.
Participants in this course will be introduced to evidence-based information that will facilitate compliance with 29 CFR Part 1910.1030, Occupational Exposure to Bloodborne Pathogens, Final Rule (Federal Register 56(235): 64004-182, 1991 and the implementation of recommendations made by other federal, state, and local agencies and professional organizations.
