Behavior Management Techniques and Protective Stabilization in Pediatric Dentistry

Course Overview
This course will satisfy the Texas Sate Board Dental Examiners adopted new rule 108.14 regarding pediatric stabilization. The new rule requires that a dentist who wishes to utilize pediatric stabilization obtain advanced training by either an accredited post-doctoral program or pediatric dentistry residency program that provides clinical and didactic education in advanced behavior management techniques or an extensive and focused continuing education course of no less than 8 hours in advanced behavior management that includes both didactic and clinical education pertaining to Protective Stabilization.
Objectives
Scientific evidence will be discussed for indications and application of commonly used behavior guidance techniques
Review the objectives, indications, contraindications and precautions for the various modalities of protective stabilization
Gain an understanding for the application of basic and advanced behavior guidance modalities in the context of today’s parental and societal expectations and limitations
This lecture will also include a hands-on demonstration of the proper use of stabilization devices
