The 3 U’s of Vitamin D Therapy: Mis-Understood, Unappreciated, Underused

Not Supported.

Course Overview

Course Description: Vitamin D may just become part of everyday periodontal therapy.  Vitamin D may have anti-cancer benefits, affect inflammation, strength bones, be protective from cardiovascular disease, lower the risk of Multiple Sclerosis, and so much more.  Is your patients Vitamin D deficient?  According to Dr. Jim Fine, possible 40-50% of all patients would benefit from a Vitamin D supplement.
Once again, Dr. James Fine presents a stellar lecture on a topic that every dental professional needs to be knowledgeable about and current when it comes not only to periodontal care but also to the overall health of our patients.  Succinct, illustrative, Jim shares what we need to know about this little understood but very necessary supplement:  the ubiquitous Vitamin D.

Course objectives:  After completing this course the participant should be able to:

  • Understand how to identify the signs of vitamin D deficiency and recommend treatment
  • Be familiar with the relationships between vitamin D and systemic disease
  • Understand the role of vitamin D in relation to periodontal disease
  • Be familiar with tests for Vitamin D deficiencies and supplements to correct them
