This course is intended to satisfy SBDE rules 111.1 and 104.1 as of this date. The material covered will discuss safe and effective pain management related to the prescription of opioids and other controlled substances as well as approved procedures of prescribing and monitoring controlled substances.
Objectives
After the presentation, the participant will:
Learn the history of opioid use globally.
Learn the nature of contemporary opioid overuse in the US.
Learn how non-opioid analgesics compare to opioid analgesic efficacy.
Learn indications and contraindications of opioid and non-opioid analgesics.
Learn analgesic strategies to maximize pain control for their patients.
