This course is intended to satisfy SBDE rules 111.1 and 104.1 as of this date. The material covered will discuss safe and effective pain management related to the prescription of opioids and other controlled substances as well as approved procedures of prescribing and monitoring controlled substances.
Objectives
After the presentation, the participant will:
Learn the history of opioid use globally.
Learn the nature of contemporary opioid overuse in the US.
Learn how non-opioid analgesics compare to opioid analgesic efficacy.
Learn indications and contraindications of opioid and non-opioid analgesics.
Learn analgesic strategies to maximize pain control for their patients.

TSBDE considers a "Live Interactive Webinar" equal to an "In Person" course. Full CE credit hours are awarded to those who attend the course in its full duration. This webinar is NOT pre-recorded, it is live and interactive with the presenter. This course will not be held on campus.
Participants are required to maintain continuous attendance throughout the entire webinar session to receive continuing education (CE) credits. Please note the following attendance policies:
Attendance Verification Requirement: Please register for and sign into the Zoom call with your first and last name, or the first and last name of the attendee who is to receive credit for this course.
Full Attendance Required: You must remain connected to the webinar for the entire duration of the session. Partial CE credits will not be issued under any circumstances. Please join the call in a timely manner, as those who miss 15 minutes or more of any portion of the webinar course times will not be eligible to receive CE credits.
Disconnection Protocol: If you are disconnected from the webinar for any reason, you must make immediate and persistent efforts to reconnect to the session.
