OVERVIEW
This course is designed for dentists who have a significant surgical background and a basic knowledge of implant dentistry. It is a comprehensive, hands-on experience in implant dentistry. The program will combine multiple surgical and prosthodontic procedures to help enhance the participant's knowledge in both the restorative and surgical aspects of implant dentistry. It will be geared toward dentists who already have a solid didactic and pre-clinical background in implant dentistry.

This impressive facility is focused on training with its sophisticated labs, audiovisual equipment and lecture facilities with the most advanced and realistic patient treatment mannequins in the world.

OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to understand and develop:
• Basic restorative and surgical treatment planning skills, rationale, and scientific basis for using implant therapy to restore oral function, health and esthetics.
• Surgical skills in soft tissue management and implant placement for single-unit, multiple-unit and full arch cases.
• Treatment planning, scientific rationale and surgical treatment skills in minor bone grafting techniques such as ridge augmentation and ridge preservation techniques
• Techniques in extraction and immediate implant placement
• Gain experience with the latest implant surgery and prosthetic implant instrumentation.
• Impression techniques
• Restorative techniques using advanced mannequin models for single unit, multiple unit, and fully edentulous scenarios with various overdenture attachments.
• Using various treatment options for managing complex prosthodontic needs

PRESENTERS
SIDNEY L. BOURGEOIS, Jr., D.D.S., obtained his dental degree from Louisiana State University School of Dentistry in May 1991. In August 2006, Dr. Bourgeois resigned his Commission in the United States Navy and joined the faculty at The University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas as a Clinical Assistant Professor.

He received his commission as a Lieutenant in the Dental Corps of the United States Navy in January 1993. He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center San Antonio, Texas in June 2002. He currently practices in Syracuse, New York. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, member of the American Dental Association, and Academy of Osseointegration. He is a member of the AO North America Craniomaxillofacial Faculty.

MICHAEL P. MILLS, D.M.D., M.S., received his dental degree from the University of Alabama School of Dentistry in 1970 followed by a one year General Practice Residency at Eglin USAF Regional Hospital in Florida. Dr. Mills is a Clinical Associate Professor with teaching responsibilities in the Postdoctoral Division of the Department of Periodontics. Prior to joining the faculty at UTHSCSA in 2000, Colonel Mills completed a distinguished 30-year career in the Air Force. Prior to his retirement, he served as the Chairman and Program Director of the United States Air Force Periodontics Residency at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He also held appointments as the Chief Consultant in Periodontics to the USAF Surgeon General and Special Consultant to the USAF Assistant Surgeon General for Dental Services. From 1977 to 1980, he received his specialty training at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Lackland AFB, Texas and completed requirements for the Master of Science degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Houston.
Dr. Mills is a Diplomate and former Chairman and Director of the American Board of Periodontology. He is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, American Board of Periodontology, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Southwest Society of Periodontists, and San Antonio District Dental Society. He has authored or co-authored 29 scientific articles and abstracts and two textbook chapters: one on the Principles and Practice of Periodontal Surgery and the other on Osseous Surgery: The Resective Approach. He also served as a reviewer for the 1996 World Workshop in Periodontics authoring a section on Anxiety and as a section participant on Periodontal Regeneration in the 2003 Contemporary Science Workshop. His expertise and interests cover a wide range of clinical periodontics and dental implantology with particular interest in osseous surgery and anatomy.

IVY S. SCHWARTZ, D.D.S., M.S.Ed., earned her DDS degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at
San Antonio in 1982. She received a certificate in Prosthodontics in 1984 and is a Diplomate of the American Board of
Prosthodontics. Dr. Schwartz is familiar with a wide variety of implant restorations as well as surgical aspects of implant dentistry. She has been involved with the undergraduate implant lecture and clinical programs at the UTHSCSA dental school since 1995. She has presented numerous CE courses and national level presentations. In 2004 she designed and implemented the undergraduate implant program at UNLV. She is Co-Director for the General Dentistry Implant Selective for seniors. This program is a didactic and hands-on clinic program for seniors to experience both the surgical and prosthetic phases of implant dentistry.

Currently, she is a Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She is Course Director for the General Dentistry Senior Clinic Program and maintains a part-time private practice.

RONALD G. VERRETT, D.D.S., M.S., attained both his dental and M.S. degrees from The University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), Dental School in 1979 and 1987 respectively. Continuing his postgraduate training with the U.S. Air Force, he completed a General Practice Residency at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana in 1980 followed by a Prosthodontic Residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas in 1987.Dr. Verrett is currently an Associate Professor and the Assistant Program Director of the Postdoctoral Prosthodontics Residency, Department of Prosthodontics, at UHSCSA. He also participates in an active intramural prosthodontic practice with emphasis on dental implant restorations and comprehensive oral rehabilitation.

Prior to joining the faculty at the Dental School, he served as the Chief of Prosthodontics and Prosthodontics Training Officer of Advanced Education in the General Dentistry Residency program at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida.

Dr. Verrett's area of research interest includes clinical prosthodontics, sleep disordered breathing, dental implants, dental materials, and dental laboratory technology. He has authored numerous papers, abstracts, and a textbook chapter, mentored numerous Master of Science thesis projects and served as a reviewer for the Journal of Prosthodontics. In addition to membership in numerous professional affiliations, Dr. Verrett is a consultant to the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontists.
