Luncheons for Learning
Preservative Management of Dental Caries

FORMAT
One day a month a speaker discusses a dental topic during lunch. The sessions are informal and the group has an opportunity to interact with the speaker during the short discussion period at the end of the lecture. It requires only about one and one-half hour of your time to learn the latest developments in many areas of dentistry. It also offers the opportunity to become better
acquainted with your colleagues and their staff since all dental allied personnel and technicians are also invited to attend.

OVERVIEW
A one-hour presentation that reviews etiology of dental caries and strategies for conservative management of the dental caries lesion.

OBJECTIVES
Understand the factors that contribute to dental caries and develop a philosophic framework and methods for maintaining oral health.

PRESENTER
Joseph P. Connor, DDS, MA, is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry, University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSC), San Antonio, Texas. He received his DDS from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He entered active duty in the U.S. Army in 1975. He retired from the Army and started at UTHSCSA in 2005.

Dr. Connor completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program (2 Year) in 1986. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of General Dentistry and the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry. Dr. Connor received a Master of Arts degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University in 1992.

He is currently co-director of the Sophomore Operative Dentistry Lecture Course and Director of the Junior Operative Dentistry Lecture Course. He is on the Dental School Strategic Planning Committee and the Committee on Committees. His special area of interest is relating the field of Human Resources Development to Dental Education.

Dr. Connor is a member of the local and state dental societies and the American Dental Association, as well as the Academy of General Dentistry.
